Smile WinXP + SP2 + Patches on 1 CD ??

Well, as the title might have given a good impression, I'm looking for a way to create a bootable WinXP install CD which installs the OS, SP2 and all the patches that came right after SP on the fly.

I know this is possible w/ XP + SP2, google research didn't help a lot, except for the WinFuture thingie.
But I don't want to install them one by one after setting up Windows...

I hope you get the idea, if anyone already had some experience with stuff like that, please let me know

Thanks in advance

[Muji]

Yeah I know what your talking about.

What you have to do is download all the patches you need, and extract them into a folder with the extracted SP2 files (if you have a pre SP2 windows xp).

Then you have to inject them into the i386 folder from the CD.

I think you can also inject the patches singally.

Look on how to make a self booting XP with SP2 streamlined, I think its the same command line used on the SP2 patch for the mini-patches.

Its hard to say myself how to do it, but look at other examples.

Best resource on the net for slipstreaming IMO. Describes how to slipstream SP's, Post SP2 hotfixes and how you also can integrate some applications directly into the install!

This technique is called "slipstreaming"; now you know the keyword to search for on Google.

Thanks for the link, kosmiq
I'll try to get some free minutes I can read through all this, a great source

Google search for "slipstreaming" helped a lot, at least more than the other searches I performed... xD

creates customized install cd's - you can remove unwanted apps (bye, MSN Messenger) and add hotfixes and other stuff

lol I read half of the article and now this
Thanks a lot, sounds interesting, guess it can save a lot of time you'd need for digging into all that

But I'll read the rest of the text and then I'll use the app...
so I a) learned something and b ) saved a few hours doing it by hand...
