I was trying to backup a dvd and I was using dvd shrink, but when I was cutting out some junk to make it fit on a dvd5, I noticed that it has 2 main movies. They both show up as the same running time, however one was called title 1 and the other title 14 but movie 1 had a slightle larger file size than 14. In the movie previe box, both movies looked the same, can anyone explain why there are 2 movies the same length with different filesizes? They both has the same audio files and subtitles if thats any help.

I don't know why there are two "main" movies, but you can simply view the movie with PowerDVD or WinDVD and look in the Context-Menu which title (1 or 14) is played.

I stumbled upon the same when trying to remaster some movies made by my DVD-Recorder which uses RWs (Mount Rainier ? Dunno...)...
When opening CloneDVD it shows 2 movies (same length, different title)... The first one was checked by CloneDVD, the second one not. And this configuration worked fine. Nero Recode didnt want to open the video files, only Nero Vision was able to open and change the movie. |

I had this with the DVD "Killers".
There were two movies. One of them 5 minutes longer than the other one. The longer was the uncut (bloody) version, only with english audio, the other was the not so bloody german version.

The same with Alien and Aliens; two movies - the theatrical release and the director's cut/special edition - per DVD. The movies are cut into pieces, the common pieces are stored only once on the DVD and the two movies only differ in the chaining of the pieces. Very efficient! (And damn complicated to XviD-rip, too!
)

Most "Special Edition" dvd's are like this. Same with the Dual format dvd's, Fullscreen/widescreen.
