window 2000 pro

i have a old dell 4400 and it came with windows 2000 pro it's very old and slow P3 1400GHz. i built a new pc with build spare parts i had lying around you know kind of old technolgy. the only new thing i bought was a amd 64bit 3500 2.2GHz and ASUS Micro ATX board.

now to the question i had before i load a OS, want to know is there any way i could use the Dell OS disk 2000 pro with my newly built spare pc. Would like to make a 2000 pro server out of it to run my network at home and help with my Wifes startup home business.

THIS IS A LEGAL COPY OF DELL WINDOWS 2000 PRO REGISTRIED TO ME......

I could install XP pro, but i like to idea of using 2000 pro as a server pc better.

when i boot up to my dell os disk it says "this software is licened for use on dell computer systems only".

is there any way around this, can i reburn this disk and remove some start files so it works with a another custom pc.

i did check on ebay and saw some copies of Windows 2000 pro for $80 to $100 but would like to not spend any more money if possible since i already have this version "THAT I DID PAY FOR WITH MY OLD DELL PC"

Any help would be grateful....

Is this legal or illegal? This forum is not supposed to provide help with obviously illegal manipulations of software!
