How to make a perfect 1:1 backup?

I recently pre-ordered from play.com a copy of Heroes of might & magic V (25 €, a present), and I was wondering:

Since I fear to scratch or ruin the support (dont know if it is dvd or cd), will I be able to make a perfect 1:1 backup copy?

As far as I know, should be protected by the latest securom....I own cloneCD, but I never tried to make a backup in ages, so I dont know if it will work as it did with older games...

Basically, I want to retain all the advantage of a "virgin" (no cracks) copy, like updates and multiplayer and avoiding messing with Daemon tools (no mini-images)

All I want is to backup the disk(s?) and play with the copy, without using any crack or mini-image.

Is it possible?
Thanks.

You can try with Alcohol 120% or Blindwrite. They are the best.CloneCD is not the best software for backup of protected disc anymore.

DVD titles CAN'T be "backup-ed". Since Heroes comes in this format forget 1:1 copying. Furthermore, you have CloneCD installed, and as neptun said, it is not a good soft to even being installed in ur system. CloneCD have lost its older capabilities, and does not get updated so often, so a permanent blacklisting from Safedisc and SecuROM makes originals to refuse working if u have CloneCD installed.
CureROM, SD4 hider and this kind of anti-blacklisting tools will not help you any longer with CloneCD.

Hope it helps.

Its not really worth the hasstle anymore doing 1:1 backups...

It stopped being worth the hasstle about 2-3 years ago really...

Everything on CD can be backed up *still* if you've got the right writer and software...but even then you there's quite a few steps...twin sector nonsense for Securom and some burners can do perfect SD4 with no hasstle....even so its just not worth the bother...

sorry to put a downer on things n be so negative...

I used to have some obession, where I would *have* to do a 1:1 backup and would never use cracks...just can't be arsed these days...got better things to do like...ummm goin outside and lookin at women...(not porn!!!)

And to answer Aldarion's question : yes you can make a backup of a dvd, but it cannot be a full clone. The backup will only work when an emulator (like Daemon Tools or Alcohol120%) is running.
