Did someone was able to play FEAR with a non real copy of the game ??? I tried some fixed EXE and fixed image from this site GCW, but the furthest i could go is running the game avoiding securom7 but the screen stayed black. In the task manager, the program FEAR wasnt answering so it didnt work and i couldnt play. If someone know how to enter the game properly, let me know here or privately by email: tremblay_kev**********com ... Thks a lot in advance and scuse my english if its not really good.

Dunno what a non-real copy exactly means. But you don't need a real or non-real copy for running the game as there are no-CD patches for it on GCW anyway...

I tried with the demo and its the same thing. The game load when i execute the exe, the game run and seems to start but when the screen is black, just before the game start once and for all, the screen stay black indefinitely and i can see there is no answer from the game in the task manager so i need to stop the application to exit this ''bug''. If someone already experienced this kind of crash, please help will be appreciated !! thks

If the screen goes black, then it's probably past the copy protection. If this is the case you'd be better off contacting Sierra support or checking a dedicated F.E.A.R. forum

The problem has nothing to do with protection.I had the same problem.It is related with codecs.In my case the problem was ACE Mega codecs pack.I uninstalled it and the game works perfectly now.I use FFDshow to watch my movies and also Klite codec pack doesn't have problems with FEAR so you have choice.It is possible to start the game in other way also.Just start config.exe in the FEAR installation folder and in the Options tab mark the disable sound option.I am not sure which one of the sound related options had to be disabled but you can experiment.Good luck.

ok, well it could be that for sure cause i have this codec pack (ace mega). ill try to disable sound and see if its working ... thks !

Also what GPU do you have ?. Is it Directx9 fully compatable because if not this could be your problem. People without fully Directx9 GPU's can not run the game without altering the settings in advanced graphics card to allow the game to be run with Directx8 Shaders (by default this is set to off and needs to be set to on to allow the game to run without DirectX9 shaders (if your GPU isnt fully DX9). Many people have experienced the same or simela problems as yourself and this wont sort the problem out for all as there are many different things to be taken into concideration. My advice is to look on the official forums and the support feature for the game as the problem you discribed has been discused fully and it sounds as though its a Hardware or software/codec problem and not a crack problem. (always 1st point of call should be to make sure your drivers are upto date for GPU/Souncard ect)

Also i understand you cant alter the settings within the game menu as you cant get the game to run that far but again their is a way to do change the settings without the game neading to reach the menu screen wich is discused on the forums/support. Hope we have been able to offer a light at the end of a dark tunnel..
