Help me on upgrading

I currently have a GeForceFX 5200 and an Intel 1.6 GHz processor. And Im thinking of upgrading either a video card or the processor.

I could either go for a Geforce 6600 256 MB, or AMD Athlon64 3000 Processor. Which of the two should I get and how much faster will I gain? Thanks

Cant do both?

Look at it this way. To get the AMD 64 CPU you need a new motherboard that accomodates it. So your talking about £150ish.

For the geforce card, which is usually about £80-90ish for the one you want, would go into your motherboard, but the CPU will limit what you can play on it.

For games nowadays, you could get the processor and motherboard and try to play on the 5200, but the graphic card may be a necessity also.

No I cant coz its way expensive here. Anyways, so will I notice a huge performance change if I switch from an Intel 1.6 GHz to an Athlon64 3000?

I already have enough money for mobo/processor.

Or which of these two is better? Intel 3.0GHz or the Athlon64 3000(2.0GHz) or is the performance between the two minimal?

AMD is always best for gaming and it has been proven with various benchmarks.

Look on the net for comparison charts

If you buy the Mobo/cpu, you'll find your graphics card is the limiting factor in 99% of the games you play, and will have to stick with an AGP board nessesitaing a further mobo upgrade when you come to change the card.

If you buy the card, you'll find the CPU is the limiting factor in 99% of games you play, and will be stuck with buying an AGP board when you come to the cpu/mobo in order to keep the card.

You would be far better off waiting till you can afford both a new PCI-E Gfx card and a S939 PCI-E motherboard/CPU combo
