Mising Dll error message when starting Civ 4

Installed Civ 4 from civ4.mds alcohol clone image

Then mounted mini image as per intructions

When i try to start game from desktop icon i get error message saying;

"Program could not be initialized cause file D3DX9_26.DLL is missing..."

Anyone else have this problem ?

Suggestions ?

Do you get the same error when installing from your original CD/DVD?

No error message when installing from DVD or mounted image.

It also works to play from original DVD

Error message comes when i try to play from mounted image.

Well the file is a DirectX 3d file. Why dont you install the game from the original disc then see if you can play it from the mounted image? Did you let the game install DirectX? Maybe you need to reinstall DirectX?

I suspect that Micro$oft is releasing subversions of DirectX 9.0c without notifying the users or changing the official version number (to 9.0c1, 9.0d, 9.1, 10.0, whatever) but the subversion number (the "26" in "D3DX9_26.DLL") does change. See http://www.microsoft.com/directx/ for the download of the latest version, whatever it is.
