sorry to bother you about gta sa again...

Hi there,

It seams that my gta problems continue: I got a file from the most friendly grumpy to fix the save game thing after applying the crash-fix patch, however upon extracting my computer tells me that the file I'm tryin to open is not a valid win32 application and should therefore be closed.
Whenever I try to apply a crack to san andreas it crashes after the rockstar north logo appears.

Before you think wrong of me: If you ask yourself why I want this game to work without the dvd so badly, the answer is simple. Once I had this great game called Empire Earth. I was almost addicted to it, as one day I dropped the cd trying to insert it into my machine. After that unfortunate event, the cd was useless due to a scar on the reading surface. I had to buy the game all over again ( not very easy, because the game wasn't in the stores anymore by that time, and I don't like buying over the internet ) Since then, I try to make all my games work without the disk. Call me a chicken or whatever, but thats why.

Back to the point now, the game worked with a crack after installing it all over again ( and it saved aswell ) , but after starting up the computer a day later, it crashed again. I hope you understand I cannot contact Rockstar about this problem, so I turn to you. The error report says the gta.exe file failed in relation to the ntdll.dll file in the system32 folder. Being kind of a computer amature, I don't like to fuzz about in that directory.


Please, help me out ( once more )

The file I sent you was to fix this error message you posted in an earlier thread:

"The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and windows applications. CLick "Close" to terminate the program."

Now I am a bit confused by your recent post? Are you saying the file I sent you would not open?

and why would that be, you're a legit purchaser of the game .. no?

the crash after the rockstar logo would kinda indicate that the crash isn't crack related, rather (possibly) driver related, uninstall the game, reboot, reinstall it, do not apply the upgrade (basically it just blocks the hot coffee mod), copy the proper crack over (as discussed in the other threads), then you won't have to do the save game fix thing, and it should work...

does it crash when using the original exe at the same place? if so, then the problem is not crack related and you should contact rockstar / the games technical support department...

to Grumpy: yes, the file you sent is not a valid win32 application, acccording to my computer and won't work. I don't know why, but nevertheless i am greatfull to you for helping me out.

To Trippex: The game does not crash if I don't use any cracks, If I apply a crack, the game worked fine aswell, untill I quit it, and try to restart it later. Then it crashes after the Rockstar North logo. Now I can't ask Rockstar wich crack would help me out here, can I ?

I read something about the game crashing if it isn't up to date ( patches and stuff ) I didn't update my version yet, so it's still the oldest one there is. But according to you people updating won't help me here...?

aaah, and the same doesnt happen if u launch the original exe, exit and run it again? if so, yep crack problem i guess, no idea what could be the cause tho... and afaik 1.01 update is just the 'anti hot-coffee mod'

I read something in the forums here about a mini-image, or something, can anybody tell me what that is, maybe it can help me playing gta without a crack ( and without dvd )
