Angry Starforce virus?

Hey,
I have Silent Hunter 3, and while I would much rather play it without carring arround my CD (i have a laptop) I´m dealing with it...but I just found out a site which is offering a starforce remover, because it is installed in your PC and can cause serious problems to it...is this for real? how does this remover work?

Well like the program says it will remove the Starforce Drivers from your system! BUT games which need the Starforce Drivers installed will no longer work! So if you want to play your Starforce games DONT use Starforce Clean.

Hi, starforce remover work proper if you download it direct from starforce official website or from game manufacterer. Don't download it from other sites, some sites purpose a virus or a dialer with name starforce remover. To play starforce protectd gamez you need reinstall the starforce driverS or use some good cracks theyre don't need this drivers. Starforce drivers run constantly on your computer and use many ressources the final result is slow computer, same results as a troyan, by older dvd or cd drives starforce destroy the drives and you can go to buy a new cd dvd rom drive. dont buy or use starforce protected sh*t.
all oinfos about sf can found here:
http://fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=70333

Have fun and play other gamez boïcott starforce!

Why you think it's SF3, which make the trouble?
Perhaps this GTR game is the cause ???

I never had a problem with SF3 protected games and the SF3-driver !!!

@muJi.fiGHt3r: Once the IDE hot swap software I'm using crashed the machine. From then on, the hard disk rack, being swapped, went down from 40 Mbyte/sec to 5 Mbyte/sec. I reinstalled the nVidia nForce 2 drivers for my motherboard, including the IDE bus master driver, and the transfer speed went up again. Apparently, the installation reinitialized something in the registry... You should try it, too!

While people may not believe this, Starforce completly trashed my PC. While I have no proof of this, the SF3 protected game (X2: The Threat) was the first thing that I installed on a clean, fully updated PC. I then attempt to load the game, reboot and am presented with the dreaded BSOD. Cleaning in Safe mode didn't really help, and so I formatted- No more probs.
Draw your own conclusions.

So let me see if I got this staright...
Ubisoft has installed a secret program (without my authorization) that can cause some problems generaly asociated with a computer virus...If I were american I would SUE THE F**K OUT OF THEM! How dare they do that? I bought a legitimate copy of their damn game and they treat me like a thief the have to keep tabs on? Maybe the starforce is also a troyan which is secretly spying on my files too...at least steam let you know what you might be getting into....I´m in too, Boycott Starforce!

As ive said before, you agreed to install Starforce through the EULA, which about 99% of end-users never read anyways :P

I own a Pizzeria, and it´s like saying that you are not responsable for someone beign foodpoisoned because of your food, because nobody forced them to eat it...you hold a responsability to your customers. And in NO WAY is the use of starforce covered in those in the agreement...because it´s not only a troyan (insalled without warning or notification of it´s consequences), but it can cause damage to your PC and interfer with it´s operation...so by this rationale, publishers could include troyans & even more delightful virus in their games, and nobody would be accountable for it but the end user....I´m one of the idiots who paid for a legit copy of their game....but I sincerly hope that those looking for the cd fix can come through and then "distribute" their damn games all over the damn world!

aycabron expressed himself a bit harshly but he meant that, in his opinion, it was a damn mistake to waste money on a software that, without any warning in advance, may damage his computer. Gotta agree with this one!

I believe in reading a (trusted source) review before buying a game. But sometimes the need for new games comes in stronger and I buy something I regret.

I attempt a return if it damaged my PC in any way.

Sometimes the only thing I will get in return is a non-returnable game (not store credit even) that I have to buy on the spot.
and sometimes (especially with PS2 problems) they *cough*GAMESTOP*cough*will offer an exact copy only (returnable for yet another copy of the same game)

In germany you can't return the game (software) to shop after opened the box.
Some shop take the software back, but no shop is obligates to take it back.
