Problem with VMU transfer via coder's cable
Hey everyone....
Got my coder's cable up and running using Serial Load and Tera Term for backing up my GD-Roms. Have successfuly dumped about 5 games now without any hickups. Though the next step for me would be to clean out my 2 VMU's. Did plenty of forum searches and software downloads, but can't seem to get any of them working. I'll explain further. Tried DC-Tool GUI v2.0 with DCload 1.03 and tried an upload and execute with the following bin/elf files (restarted DC and PC program after failed attempts) obs-vor1.bin vmu_070.bin vmu_066.bin vmufrog.bin Progress stays at 1 bar and doesn't budge. (leave for 10 mins even overnight for one). DCload just says Recieving data... (00000000/00032d0c) and nothing else (the 32d0c changes for different files). Tried the same with the DOS based DC-tool with dc-tool -x file.bin Also threw in -t COM1 and -b 115200 and -b 57600 but still get a stale mate. When I try a link test in DC-Tool GuI i get the following output: OUTPUT:> File format is elf32-shl, start address is 0x8c010040 OUTPUT:> Section .text, lma 0x8c010000, size 125440 Hope someone can help, or recommened another way around this. Can't go the modem route, so please don't suggest this, And I want to remove the saves from the VMU not put any on there. Regards MagicRat |

Vorlem was a nice program, it's a shame it was bugged and never got a new version. It didn't do read only saves and so on, and sometimes crashed on some saves (Lodoss War was one).
I only use the tools by Kikuchan these days, they are a bit cumbersome but work fine for me. vmload/vmsave - these dump every VMU connected entirely into DCM files. vmurip - this will rip files out of only the first VMU, all files ripped into DCI files. What I usually do is that I have blank DCM files already to use, I use vmurip to rip out all the saves, then I import the ones I want using a rather ugly piece of software called DCLinker (the software that came with the Nexus card) and then I upload the whole image back onto the VMU. It's more writing than is necessary unfortunately, but it's the only decent way to manage saves. Maybe Bucanero and the others working on VMUtool can change that... Well, to let everyone know, I left it for a couple of days. Got the ****s and unplugged it all.
Tonight, I came back and tried it all again. This time it worked. DC-Load was working away instead of sitiing on its arse. I have a feeling it was all because of meeps... ;-) I didn't include it in the command prompt. Couldn't find vmurip but I did find vmubackup. Good luck with your broadband, darkfalz....
