New GameCube Chip announced!
A new GameCube got announced today. It is supposed to the worlds first no-swap for the GC, ncluding an on-chip media player and a lot of extra features. Publisher: www.qoobchip.com Looks interesting, the site is well laid out. Hopefully it lives up to its claims.

This is maybe a dumb question but... Why can't we do a working backup of a gc game working on a non-chip gc ??? What's the protection used ??? (bad sector, pc non-compatible TOC, weird disc layout... fu...)

Gamecubes read discs backwards (from the outside inward) and backups are all burned from inside outward. Chipping a 'cube not only gets past all copy protection but forces the unit to read discs in a conventional manner.
