I've just bought it and it has no protection at all! More interestingly, the FULL game weighs in at under 28MB! How cool is that? It makes all these 4gb installs look a bit silly.

Demo is only 10.86 MB meaning you can download about 40% of the game for free?

And how mutch do you have to buy the full copy? Becuase the graphic isn't HL2 or Doom3 in a long way....(this is mutch mutch mutch bether! ).

.

Anyway this topic should be moved to a more off-topic area.

Darwinia is one of the most playable, interesting and addictive games made in the last few years. Doom 3 is just a fancy tech demo at best. Darwinia has old fashioned gameplay, and is one of the best games I've EVER played, 27mb or not. It's not always about mind blowing graphics. Besides which, I think Darwinia has a fantastic atmosphere anyway. Many UK magazines have rated it into the 90's, which is justified.

It's a classic.

Anyway, less of talk about the game. Let's keep this Forum for what it's purpose it. Suffice to say that Darwinia has no CD protection, indeed a self run Exe is included on the disk if you don't want to install it.

Ok,.. so ppl are saying Darwinia doesn't have copy protection.
Well then! Look at this nice screeny I took.
The background pulls out to show the words BUY ME, and a long text speech about piracy. It then closes the game, and opens the web browser to direct you to there site to purchase the game.

... Which shows that creative and talented people deal with piracy in a humorous and more than acceptable manner. Way cool!

The message came up after completing the second stage (where ya got to round up 200 darwinians in the safe zone) and ESCaping from that zone.
Oh, another thing, it also deletes your profile/savegame.
But doesn't seem to do anything more than that.

Then the developers must have released a triggered version onto the Internet, because when you buy the full game, you can install it and play without the cd, and no further checks are made.

P.S. Remember, by posting that screenie, you are advertising the fact that you're using Warez games, which is not allowed here.

If it is a trigger version released by the developers, then it's not warez. It's a cool collectible.

The point of it was to make people like yourself download it thinking your getting it for free, and you did and it isnt working.

Its not a cool collectable, its thieving.
