Help with hdloader

Ok, I have been out of this scene for a while now. I bought and installed a Matrix infinity quite some time ago, but I have never really used it. Well I want to put a hard drive in, and use hdloader, but last I heard is that they werent selling it anymore. Then there was something about a cracked hdloader. Now I am reading about patches and all sorts of new stuff.

Anyways, my question is this, which hard drive brand do you recommend, I am leaning towards a Maxtor. Where can I get HDLoader? What is this hack I am hearing about that allows larger HD size? Also, last I heard you can now boot HDLoader off the Memory Card? How?
