disks do not boot, what can it be ? (maybe AR 1.9 German ??)

Hi all,

I have the following problem: chipped a PS2 SCPH30004 using Neo 2.2 Everything seems to be fine, BUT using the Action Replay card (version 1.9 German) I found some interesting and strange things.

1, using DISK 2 to boot up PSX games, the simple swap method does not work. Booting using the EA method (holding the reset) PSX disks work. (This hasn't happened to Action Replay 1.71)

2, using DISK1 to boot up PS2 backups on CDR the normal mode doesn't work. Only when booting the EA method, but then many games fail to start (Tekken, Warriors of might and magic, Heroes 3, stc)

So my question: has anyone ever seen these problems ? I chipped two machines both produce the same symphtoms, the cards are Action Replay 1.9's (GERMAN version) but I am not able to check out other cards as I don't have any around. Well, the games and these chips worked fine some months ago when I installed the chips in 30003 machines and used AR2 1.71 (German). So what can it be ? The machine or the card or what ? I have burnt the games on different medias no matter what I try, booting in normal mode simply isn't ok, after swapping the AR2 disk with the game disk, I used to wait some seconds so that the disk can spin up, and pressing X always worked, the game started. Not now. The machine simply stops, no disk activity, but Please wait, loading (in german of course) message and that's all. What did I do wrong ? (Or what's wrong ?) I have heard many roumors that German AR2 cards sometimes fail and do not work...

anyone could help, please that would be great, I have been spending hours with testing the games and have no clue what went wrong...

thanks, Stephen
