HL2 help

ok...i need some honest help here. i bought half life 2 from Target.com about 2 wks ago for 54 bucks. i initially installed it, but didnt decrypt/unlock any game files. the 2nd time, it decrypted/unlocked 20% of the game files. i dont kno what the f--- to do to get it goin 100% so i can play the damn thing. i've sucessfully registered my cd key over steam, and have a workin account on steam, but its all kinds of f----d up. i checked the monitor from steam, and it shows activity, but the properties window from HL2 on the play games menu only shows that and CS:Source at bein 50% acquired. what the f---? i need some honest help with this sheeit. unlike some out there, i payed good money to get this tremendously anticipated FPS that'll change gaming on the PC and console for a long time (if not ever!!). please help me asap. thanks. btw...just email me if u've got an answer, i should check here, but i've got college to do so maybe emailin may be easier for me. thanks. peace.

2. Why you asking your question in a "PC-GAMES BACKUP"-Forum and not in the Forum on www.steampowered.com ?
