Arrow Halflife 2 - Internet activation and after....?

Hello !

Just got back from holiday, I've read a lot about the HL2 internet activation that must be done with Valve. There is much discussion about sense and so on, copy protection nonsense, etc.

But my question is:
If i buy the game, then activate it with Valve, once i've finished it, will i be able to resell it, or will i'have to keep it all my life without possibility of getting rid of it ??
As the game is registered on my name how can i sell it to someone else ?
I always resell my games after completing them, there are not many games i've played twice, so why keeping them wasting lots of free space home...
Is like buying a car that you can't resell.....
Thx for comments on this one, maybe someone knows...

If you also give the buyer your STEAM account with which you activated the game then this would be possible, as your STEAM account is linked to the serial key of the retail version of the game. But if this is legal, that is another question... Most likely they do not allow this making it hard to resell HL2 and future online activated games (but then again they will be making more money when everyone has to buy a original non-activated version).

But it is also possible that Valve adds an option the deactivate/remove a serial from your STEAM account so you can resell it but this is highly unlikely...

To my knowledge, your do not own a copy of the game. You just "lease" it so therefor it can not be resold... (I read this somewhere but can not find where this was)

Half Life 2

I read something in german internet news that it is possible to reactivate Half-Life 2 after playing, but it costs 10 Euro at STEAM. Selling the game makes than no problem. In my opinion itīs to expensive and it seems to me that the game is more lended than bought from Steam. But isnīt there a offline-activation-patch from E.p...o in the news?

Thx for your replies, but another question came to my mind:
What if you ever change your computer, get a new one ?
(it's the same than selling the game in fact).
I think this online registration is not in fact a copy protection, but a
guarantee for the publisher that each sold copy of the game is only used once
and after that becomes useless, a sort of throw-away game, used once...
Waht do we learn ?
That some very, very clever businessman has find yet another way to get more money for a nice looking, but "full-of-bugs-and-no-idea-how-to-solve-them" game.

I'll go ahead and close this thread, as your other thread has some good replies. Incidently, it would be wise to search the steam forums, I could swear 1 of the valve staff have stated that it is possible to 'sell' accounts. You are just gonna have to start searching through the millions, and millions, of threads are currently active over there.
