Thumbs down downloading files, not sure what to expect...

hello folks. I am an absolute beginner in regards to downloading mp3's. I came on today to see if I could find a site that would just allow me to pay by the month, as I am not really 'into' downloading everything, just want a few favs on my computer.
I found what I thought was just such a site, but found that I had actually agreed ( though I don't know where) to buying software
( MP3Downloading.com) as well as paying a monthly fee. Since I had parted with my money, albeit without meaning to, I decided I would get on with it and enjoy what was on offer.

I expected there to be lists of songs that I could choose to download from, on the website, but it doesn't work like that. The songs I choose are found and listed on my computer from all over the place, and then I am supposed to click on the ones I want and they will download, only they don't.

I have XP Pro SP2, I have configured the native firewall to allow the ports required to be used, and I am getting lots of search results, but nothing downloads.
I am on broadband and behind a NAT router which has its own firewall.

I can't find the help I need on the mp3 website and I am not sure if it is my machine that is not allowing the downloads or if the downnloads are even happening since they are mostly listed as 'pending' or 'no source'. The one active one I found changed to no source as soon as I got to it ( hmph).

Am I doing something wrong or do I have to configure something else as well I wonder?

All help appreciated

It sounds as though you have a slow connection or that you are impatient (no offense meant) i mean some downloads of songs can take about 5 mins to do depending on your connection, the fact that it has 'pending' and 'need more sources' says to me that you are choosing the wrong file to download.
try downloading the same song but from two or even three different users or sources at the same time, whichever way you network works, then choose which download is acting the fastest, delete the other two downloads to optimise the speed of your chosen file.
good luck

you should try kazaa...they will automatically search for more sources if your downlaod is pending or qued. in addition...kazaa will search for the same file and if multiple users have that file, they will automatically choose the fastest connection one. it is really helpful and easy to use. as a plus, they offer another program identical to kazza called kazaa plus that has no advertising, but you have to pay a monthly fee. if you have any other questions, you know where to ask. email me at peter_jordan99**********com
hope this helps
