Smile Half Life 2 , 5cds unto 1 dvd ?

Hi, i just purchase my Half Life 2, was amazed that it came in 5 cd's , and i was looking forward for a cd case with a nice picture in it, but at least the game its self i know its going to be awsome.

Heres my question, i was wondering if there was a way to put all 5 cds unto 1 dvd, in case my pc crashes in the future. If not its cool, as long as i got the originals.

should be easy to put it onto 1 DVD, most games are simple enough. and the UK version is DVD so they must be similar
but i dont have it (yet)... so what do the files on the CDs look like? what are they called? is there an .msi file? are there .cab files?

and i thought logging into steam was required to activate the game, then you could play single player without having to do it again (although it probably requires ticking 'remember username and password' or something) so you can play single player without having to access the internet again

of course nocd cracks are always useful and there will probably be one soon that you can use after activation

Only because Steam messed up my registration...you're SUPPOSED to be able to play Offline, but I do not have that option due to the screwup

Exchange your regular copy for the collectors edition which comes on DVD. Even if you redo the 5CDs to 1DVD you are still going to be fighting with the Securom protection, so save yourself the hassle, and exchanging it.

Im doing the DVD conversion now! Its got the msi file so its should be relatively easy! But at this stage you will still need CD1 in the drive to play so wether or not its worth doing! And yes luciel you need to log into steam every time you need to play! Well at least I do as mine hasnt technically been activated as it was all jammed up but still lets my play?
I posted what happened with my activation into BW's HL2 thread earlier but this is what it said:

"Your subscription to Half-Life 2 Retail Standard has not
been completed, because Steam is currently too busy to
process the transaction.
However, you can play Half-Life 2 Retail Standard in the
meantime, and we will get back to you with the results of
your transaction as soon as we are able to process it."

P.S: Forgot to mention it took nearly and hour to get to that message!
