I believe this is a fun site! For games etc! The topic of Scott Peterson in my opinion doesnt deserve to be discussed here! If we started discussing one case (and I do believe the American members probably feel more strongly towards this than others) then many more cases will follow! And soon we will have a murder trial from every country being discussed here! After all its been 24 years and Australians are still talking about the Azaria Chamberlain case! (The dingo and the baby saga!)
Lets just leave this fantastic site to discussing games and any other fun topics! After all the reason most of us probably play games is to escape the harsh realities that life itself can throw at us! Lets not degrade Fileforums by bringing in the more morbid topics as there are plenty of other sites for that sort of thing!
This is just my opinion and as an Australian we dont hear to much of the Peterson case in our media!

I guess you didn’t notice the topic of the entire section "OFF TOPIC"!!!!

This means hint hint… anything unrelated to anything.....get it. By the way have you noticed most of the topics in this section have absolutely nothing to do with games what so ever.

Now with that said I'll post whatever goddamn topic I feel here and let the mod decide if it shouldn’t be discussed.

Now yes you are right this case hits very close to home, especially since I live in the same town that the Petersons did, and its not like the ding bat dingo crap (that I haven’t heard of) because its not 24 years old, this was decided on just last night.

I have been talking with people about this case and find it hard to believe that some people actually think he is innocent and want to know what some of our fellow members here think of the outcome as well, so please grumpy bug don’t dampen there thoughts and anyone with an opinion about this I would like to hear it.

Now now now dont go off the deep end so easily! It was after all my opinion on this so called Off Topic off yours! And I did say the Americans may feel more strongly towards this as you obviously do especially since you live in the same lovely neighbourhood as this Peterson fellow!
And as far as the ding bat dingo goes my point was stories like this have been going on for far to long just like most cases that are highly published in the media. And if you havent heard of the ding bat dingo case then i guess that shows that you are only a young pup who doesnt really follow world news as a movie was made about it using American actors of all people! Meryl Streep may be a fine actress but she just didnt pull it off as an Australian!

You obviously haven’t been on this board very long. I would be willing to say we are around the same ago, I may even be older then you, so who needs to grow up? Oh and now that I think about it I do remember something in the dusty corners of my mind about the dingbat story, but like I said this topic is about current events.

When I asked about opinions I was asking for them related to my post, not a 24 year old dingbat story or an opinion of “oh the poor Petersons”. Yes this is a tragic topic and very morbid and yes very disturbing to me that it happened in my same town. So fella I'm not flaming you, your opinion just has absolutely nothing to do with what I was looking for out of an answer. Your opinion was more like "I don’t think this should be talked about" and that’s not what I was asking about. It was more like you just wanted to shut my thread down because you didn’t think it should be discussed because of its morbid-ness, well friend without discussion about such events society will remain in the dark and grievances and solution can’t be dealt with. I do realize yes this is your opinion now we all know where you stand thanks for that. Now lets move on to the opinions that relate to the topic.

Now I hope your butt doesn’t hurt to much and you don't think I’m flaming you, as I really am not out to offend anyone here just looking for some good conversation on a topic that really hits home with me in more ways then them just living in the same town.

@krondike do you say this because you believe imprisonment is a worse punishment then death (as I know a few people that think the same) or do you simply not believe in the death penalty?


@Tyler, Conner as you know was the childs name, of all he was the one that had the most to loose. I feel very bad for the boy who didnt even get to enjoy one day on this planet.

Death is to good for some offences. Then again maybe we should publically execute sick ****s like that. Then people wouldnt be so quick to commit crimes of this nature.

Well I'm not sure where you are going with this, it almost sounds as if you thought I was talking about anal sex and your butt, sorry if you got that impresion, didnt mean to mislead you, I'm just not into that.

Im not offended by anything i have read here nor did I want to try and close your thread. This obviously hits close to the heart for you and I do sympathise with you on this matter. I was only implying "Do we really need these sorts of topics at this site."
As you said before a decent discussion can sometimes get a bit hostile and I certainly didnt mean to send you in a spin!
And if my say means anything yes I feel he is 'probably' guilty! I certainly dont think he is innocent! In todays world of DNA test its harder for crims to get away with horrific crimes like this one certainly is! But I dont think the death penalty is right for a lot of cases! It may possibly be the right thing for Peterson though!
I remember reading something just the other day where some guy was cleared in America of (I think it was for the murder of his girlfriend) a crime he committed 19 years ago because of todays DNA tests! Bad enough he did 19 years but 'luckily' he wasnt sentenced to death!
But in todays world there shouldnt be many mistakes in the procedures of finding the right person guilty!
Now I do hope if we get into another discussion on this forum we do get off on the right foot and both agree straight away.
But wouldnt it have been a bit boring if I just said 'Guilty'

I can agree with that 100%

I'm not sure how I feel about the death penalty. I would rather see 10 guiltily people go free then one innocent be put to death. But like Warlock stated maybe if the punishment is sever enough people will think twice before doing such a terrible crime. Then again look at country’s with dictatorships for governments and you will see punishments that are an eye for an eye and look at all the problems they have even with the harshness of there punishments.

Yes this case hit really close to my heart. Don’t get me wrong I feel very bad for everyone involved, but the poor little boy Conner I feel extremely sad for. Not being able to enjoy being a baby and playing with even a simple rattle

When I think about Conner I get a slight rage that comes over me and wish that they would kill Scott, but then like others have mentioned to me death isn’t good enough for him and he needs to rot in prison before he rots in hell. I also think that if he doesn’t get the death penalty it’s not going to be easy for him in the pen. Even convicts have morals and a guy like Scott wont last long, shoot they might even just kill him in the pen, which would be a much more brutal death then the "human" one he would receive from the state. Now that I think about it he better just hope he does get the death penalty.

This might not have been the best forum to start a topic like this but I have come to enjoy the comments and beliefs of our fellow members here and wonted to hear there thoughts that’s why I chose to ask for opinions here.

We will cross paths again I'm sure Grumpy, and like you said a good debate can’t become until some harshness is served some times.

Maybe I should have made the poll not weather he is innocent or guilty but weather he should get the death penalty or not as that seems to me more of an interesting topic. I should have made the poll privet as well.

I haven't even heard about that case (UK) but have just read up on it and it's quite emotional.

It amazes me that some people don't understand that you only live once and have to make the best of it. Even more so it amazes me that people think they have the skill to take somebody's entire life away from them and get away with it.
