sims2 backup

Hi All,i have a dvd backup copy of sims2 which works fine on my o/s xp home but it will not play on my xp pro system when i try and play it i get a windows box with a red circle and white cross in it there is also a o/k box when i clck on it the box goes but the game does not start can anyone advise me how to correct this ?.
