Need helps with lens

Hey all, I notice my modded ps2 is getting worse and worse with loading burnt games. The reason for this is that the media I've burned DVD games on is a blank white one labeled DVD-R's. Unfortunetly, I recently found out these are DVD-RW's and I know RW's mess up your laser quick... and apparently, it did. Games that I KNOW work and have always loaded in one shot require quite a few tries and sometimes don't load no matter how many times I try. I'm guessing the lens is messed up and maybe even close to dead.

What do you guys suggest? Should I try cleaning it somehow or should I just see about getting a new one installed? If so, I'd want someone else to do it as I would almost definetly mess up, no matter how easy it is. So unless there's someone nearby (in Jersey, I doubt it), that would PROBALY require me to ship someone my ps2.

My ps2 is 50001 model, BTW. Thanks.
