DVDRW+R Media Problems

I bought a 5 pack of Fuji DVDRW+R's for use with a new Khypermedia burner for weekly Ghost backups of my hardrives. The process goes along fine until I need to restore a folder or file. The Ghost images are shown but it seems to take forever for the data to actually be recognized and read. The same image files on a DVD+R report almost immediatly and are available for reading in a second or two. I remember how "iffy" RW's were for the CDR in years past but hoped that the manufactures had gotten beyond that by now. Are DVDRW's just as flakey?
