Anyone soldered a neo12 to a ver 9? Help!

Hi, I'm a noobie and couldn't find any info on a search so I thought I'd post. I bought the chip and kit- Neo 12 for ver. 9 PS2 silver.

Can't figure the diagram as there seems to be 21 solder points and it only requires a 12 wire solder. Could someone explain to me please. I'm a virgin at this caper.
This is the diagram here :

www.mod-chip.com/images/neo12_v9.jpg

and where does the two yellow wires go ? Ground and....positive?

Thanks awfully

Teresa

Unfortunately Teresa,
it seems youve had the wool pulled over your eyes. Even though the Neo12 (really isnt even a real "Neo" chip) claims to only require 12 or so wires to solder. They dont tell you that you still actually need to solder 21 or so "points". Basically the other points are just bridges that you must make with solder.

Also that chip is basically a crap chip. Your best bet would have been to buy a Duo2.

In that link you posted it shows where you need to place the chip to bridge it. Basically all you do is drag solder to the points.

Who recommended this chip? I would be upset with them.

Go to our Ultimate Info Sticky and check out the Duo2 Review.

Getting there......not....

Well, after much conceptualizing I "think" I managed to work out the illustration: Feel free to patronize me if I'm wrong guys......

Solder chip to board using wiring "front of PS2 board" :

A, S, VCC (thick yellow wire), Z, RST (thick yellow wire), R, W. {7 solder points}

Solder chip to board using wiring "back of PS2 board" :

F,B,G,H, I. {5 solder points}

This is the 12 wires they refer to in their advertising blurb. Am I right so far

Next is the bit "pre-soldered pads" P,O,N,M, GND, and Q,T,U,V. {9 in total}.

This makes 21 solder bits in total. Is that the correct methodology?

I still can't get a satisfactory thought from my brain cube as to how the hell these "pads" connect. Does an idiot heat the pre-soldered pad and stick a bit of wire to it to effect the joint between mobo and chip or is the pre- soldered pad heated to the board directly via some dark necromancy - surely not Harry? Only the deftest (daftest??) would do that

In a word....HELP!

Teresa

Eureka (with caveats)!

If the whole pad thing is described as in Shadowknyghts via filling thingey then I've grasped it...tell me it is so...?

well as far as the modchip goes its lame! what i would do is scrap this chip. If you need a chip go on www.mrmodchips.com and get a matrix infinity or dms3 as these are the most reliable modchips avaliable as well as the duo 2 v reliable 2
