Xbox Stubborn Dashboard/Sound
I am a newbie. I purchased a used Xbox on eBay that supposedly had a problem with the drive not ejecting. This is a totally unmodified box. I was the first one to open the case. After plugging it in when I got home I could not get any sound or the menu on the TV screen. I believe the drive eject green light on the unit was not blinking. When pressing the eject button I could hear the drive making noise but it wouldn't open. The green light starts to blink. No other colors show up except green. In frustration I kept hitting the eject button and after about 30 seconds the dashboard comes up with sound. The next push of the eject button will open the drive. You can then play a DVD, game, etc. I don't get any error messages on the screen. I bought one of the new Samsung 616T drives that was already modified with the yellow wire connector and tried it in the unit but it still operates the same way. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be wrong?
Thanks, Bill |

You might want to try another IDE cable. There could be some breakage. Same with that yellow cable.
Although, it could have something to do with the power/eject board as well, or a blown fuse. There are many reason on why this would happen.
