Soldiers Heroes of WWII

I've just bought this, and it's a fantastic game. Being a Codemasters title it uses our old pal Starforce3. This set me round to thinking. Seeing as there are Exe. fixes for certain Starforce games (only work when installed from the original), would it be possible to log and save any changes made to the registry after game install, save the installed game as an image and then use these files to install at a later date? I know Trackmania works fine when I save an image of my OS and installed games using Trueimage (Acronis), but this file is only applicable to the specific hardware that was used to create it. What I want is a way of installing a backup so that it will work on future upgrades. I just want a workaround for installing a game from a backup, in case the original should become damaged. I'm going to investigate this further at the weekend, when I have more spare time. I remember a few years back, when I created an install disk for Red Alert 2, which had a protected install Exe. I'm sure a similar principle could be applied to Starforce games. We need to find some solution here, as more and more games are using it.

Not a totally bad idea. HOWEVER, I fear it's not going to be THAT easy. Still, here's a tool that can easily track registry changes. I don't have any SF3 experience but the few peeps we have that do will be around shortly to blow holes in your idea . Still, if it keeps you amused for the weekend...

starforce 3 is impossible to work around. it'll take you more time and effort than it's worth to just go buy an extra copy if you need a backup, lol.

BUt anyways, I dled the demo and it was mega cool! I can't wait till I save up enough to get that one... I go thru mood swings, I'll be either full on FPS or full on Strategy. lol, right now i'm in the middle of a strategy phase. lol. I can't wait for panzers. but I just got Ground control II and that game is killer! the camera is a bit hard to work with but hopefully they wll fix some things in a patch.

http://fileforums.com/showthread.php...oldiers+heroes

http://fileforums.com/showthread.php...oldiers+heroes

ok so if any of the crews release a no-cd patch for the backup copy lets post it here.

and if any one has any new ideas of theorys of what mite happen if this starforce takes of big time end of backup copys?

also dose any one know how to open the files that store the game data so we/I can start moding i though soldiers heroes of WWII would make a good modern combat game like an EuroAsian Allied forces verses a Colony Coalition sorta theme..

ps. ash if u send me another nasty privet messege ill report u to admins.. so plz stop i got nothing against u.. & freedome of information rulls.

Skoty, you're banned for two weeks. Take that time to read up on some elementary topics like board etiquette, how to read board rules and what "freedome of information" and other slogans you seem to like really mean.
