I have Roxio6 but am not sure if this is possible. I will attempt it for you and post back later. Let me make sure I understand exactly what you are attempting. Do you want to replace the current menu with your own version?
Like a clip of an existing movie or a self recorded clip? If this is right, I can try it with this program and let you know if it works.

TMPEG DVD Author allows you to use MPEG or GIF format files for a video menu.

Well I tried Roxio6 for you and was only able use custom bmp files. I have the pinnacle studio v8.0 but am reluctant to program it back into my system again due to software conflicts so I will leave you in the hands of the other members.
Some of them are very knowlegable in this area and I am certain one of them will get you on the right path. Sorry I could not be more help.
