Once again "Is'nt one DVD enought?

Ok here goes, if i get an "8X Max DVD+-R/+-RW and 48/24/48 CD-RW" Then why would i need another (CD or DVD player or writer)? I have been confussed since i asked the question "Do i need 1 or 2 DVD players or writers" Can't i get by with just the one? And can someone please tell me why you would need two? I'm new to all this and would love to hear what anybody has to say. We all have different outlooks. Thanks for your information.
