Superstar and Makin' Magic (please bear with me)

Hi.

I know there are countless posts about Superstar and Makin'
Magic but it doesn't seem that I have the exact same problem as
everyone else. If there is a helpful post that I missed, please be
kind enough to point me to it, rather than just mention it exists.
Any help is appreciated.

Now then, I'm using the Deviance no CD patch for Superstar but
it crashes to the desktop while loading. Makin' Magic crashes
before even getting to the loading screen. I tried preserving my
Unleashed sound.far and loadloop.wav files, but it was no use.
Can anyone please tell me how to get the games to work?
