Has anyone built USB adapters for Gamepads /Memory cards?

I bought a JoyBox adapter because I wanted to play a PS2 controller on my Xbox. I thought I could get it to double as a USB adapter by adding a USB cable to the appropriate USB wires inside the Joybox.

When I connected it to my computer, it found new hardware. I needed to run USBView to get the VID & PID numbers to modify the driver install. After install it shows OK in Gaming options but when you hit properties it says not connected properly.

Is it that Joybox is just not compatable with xbox gamepad drivers?

Also for reading Memory cards people go through a process of modifying Action Replay link software or something with limited results. If the Xbox Gamepads are USB Hubs, then Xbox memory cards are USB flash drives. What would happen if I made an adapter to connect a Memory card directly to a USB port, would it detect a flash drive?

I have a 32mb and a 128mb flash stick. I added 2 usb sockets to my xbox controller. When I inserted the 32mb flash stick, it reformated it (deleting everything) and was able to use it as a memory card. The 128mb one made the dashboard slow down, didn't say it was incompatble (which would format it), and the xbox was unable to read it. So the smaller ones probably work, while the larger ones are less likely to work.

Now I took an 8MB XBOX card and hooked it to my PC’s USB Port with an adaptor I built, it found new hardware but it was unknown. Then when I plugged it back into my Xbox it does not detect the card anymore!! I don’t think it got fried but my PC may have erased the flash format or something? I can’t believe it!!

Any development apps to reformat / recover the memory cards?

was your adapter an xbox controller -> pc? I never used a normal xbox memcard with it, but read that AR's software/drivers were the ones that could read it. Is that the program you used? Also, what xbox controller drivers were you using?

and if it was damaged or reformatted, there is no recovery

I downloaded the Action Replay Xport software but I think I got the PS2 version? I donno…

When I run USBView with the Xbox memory card plugged in it shows a Vendor ID and Product ID all all that so it must be communicating, also it’s a 3rd party card. I'll frig with it a bit more later, I guess I can’t make it any worse.
