PIONEER DVR-107 Need H E L P !!!
Currently considering ordering PIONEER DVR-107 DVD recorder.
It is available for $115 which includes shipping. Sounds like a great price, but it is described as "OEM" or "bare" drive. Does this mean I get no software to install in an XP machine? Are drivers downloadable . . . . or necessary? Is this a good recorder? Thanks so much for your advice and comments. LGS |

You'll just get as it suggests, the bare drive. No cables, software or fancy packaging. It keeps costs down which is a nice option for the consumer to have.
Drivers - not needed, Windows should pick it up automatically. Software - there's an abundance of dvd writing software on the internet: free, shareware and retail software.

In researching Pioneer DVD burners, I find that the 106 is more expensive than the 107. I would have thought the 107 was the later, better drive, but the price does not indicate that.
Can anyone compare the two for me? Thanks, LGS |

Should not be the case.
106 burns at 4x on both media 107 burns at 8x on + media I think Maybe you were comparing the A06 with the 107 - the A indicates it's the retail package with cables, s/w etc Or maybe you were comparing two different places.
