I just got the file off of a server and it decompresses as a unspecified file. how do i figgure out if its selfbootable or not, and how do i put it to an actual format.

i tried MagicISO to convert the file, but i got some errors along the way. Same with mksisofr.exe.

help?

i dont think it has an extention to begin with.

i go to properties of the file and under the TYPE OF FILE guideline it just states "FILE"

so thats where i'm confused. it has no .iso .cdi or wahtever..

I hope you kept the compressed file that you downloaded, because what happened to you usually seems to be caused by using a bum archiver. Try WinRAR 3.20 or newer.....

maybe your explorer doesn´t show
registred extensions. try to get properties
on this file.
does it have a specific icon?

maybe you can use a hexeditor and view
the beginning of the file. most formats have
a header.

blindshoot!
rename it to iso or something.
rename to rar may help.

try to mount it with the daemon tools.
error messages or not ?
