Backing up PS2 games a second time

I made a backup of one of my PS2 games a while back on some crappy media (Princo DVD-R A grade).

It turns out that the game I backed up is now unplayable for some reason (probably scratches or something). I only checked my back up copy recently due to the fact that the original is unuseable now. Well, the backuo copy is pretty crappy. It takes a while to load up and during gameplay it is jerky. And at one point it just freezes (about 5 mins into the game).

Now my question is can I make a backup of this game from the backed up copy somehow making it playable if I use good media such as Verbatim or TDK etc.?
I figure that the files are all there on the DVD, it's just that the media is crap so the PS2 has trouble reading from it. Thus if I burn it again on good media this will fix the problem.

But I also think that since it is already a crappy copy, I'll just be making an exact copy of a crappy copy which equates to another crappy copy.

What do you guys think? Burn again on good media?

Reburn and there should be some improvement if the disc isn't in too bad of shape.

Since it's data written on the disc, if you extract the data on your HDD, then if you reburn, all your problems should be vanished.

Just in case the hiccups don't occur due to crappy media, BUT on scrathces, i believe it would be wise to set the "Read Retries to a higher amount and of course do not set "Ignore Read Errors"!

By the way DVD discs aren't locked so, you won't have any problems
