changing dms3 from v4 to v? ??

hello all. been lurking around here a couple of weeks doin some readin. thanks everyone, alot of useful info here. anyways, haven't seen my question anywhere.
i have a v4 and am going to install dms3 this weekend despite the posts i read about the v4 is not worth the chip cause of age, eye, and reliability reasons.
since the dms has the ability when installed to sense the system version and callibrate itself to particular system. if i install it on my v4 and it (v4) eventually goes out. could the chip be removed and installed on say a v7??? (i know that v9, and v10 take a different model dms chip) and be able to "re-calibrate" itself to the "new" system???
thanks in advance for any response

Yes it will work in another PS2 version if it has already been installed in a V4. It doesn’t really "calibrate its self" so to speak. Every time the console is turned on and the chip with it,…..it just uses the code it needs to work with what ever version PS2 it’s in at that moment, in affect "calibrating its self" every time its turned on. But you are also right in saying that the DMS3 that will work in your V4 will only work up to V8 consoles. The V9 and V10 would need the DMS3 V9 to work.
