DVD and subtitles
I backed up a copy of The Phantom Menace but only copied the movie. I did not keep the menu items. I used English subtitles and found out that the subtitles are on there full time (ie. you can't get rid of them). I can't remember what program I used but it may have been Intervideo DVD Copy.
I also checked a few of my other backups where I backed up the movie only (no menu) and I must have used another program because with these DVD's you can choose to turn the subtitles on or off using the "subtitle" button on the DVD remote. I do not remember what programs I used for those back ups. Anyone else found this also to be the case? ie. copying movie only (without preserving the menu) while copying subtitle gives a full time subtitle display instead of a choice between subtitle and no subtitle. I wonder what would happen if I chose to copy 2 subtitles. Just say I chose between English and French. I wonder if I would always have to choose between either one of the two while viewing rather than no subtitle at all. I won't use DVD Copy anymore if copying movie only from now on. I'll try to see which program allows the choice of subtitle or no subtitle and use that instead. But I find that DVD Copy is a good prgram for splitting movies. |
