Werid Self-boot problem

Hi, im new to the forums, so sorry if this is a really stupid question, im learning about the self booting progs etc, anyway...

I have made 99% of my DC games self-booting, but am having a few problems making, Gauntlet Legends, Ferrari challenge, and Virtua cop, self-booting. For Gauntlet and Virtua Cop, it loads up to the Sega logo, but the goes back to the controller & memory card screen, i have also try gauntlet without making it self booting and using the boot cd and it does the same thing!!! Ferrari challenge goes past the Sega logo, and says loading on the screen, and then goes back to the Controller & Memory card screen!! Does anybody know why this is happening and what i can do to sort it out??? Thanks in advance if anybody can help!!

I don't have any of those games so I really can't say. What did you use to make you back ups selfboot?

Have you selfbooted a WinCE game? That may be one of your problems. I know that Virtua Cop 2 is one of those games.

Sometimes you may need another boot bin besides 1st_read.bin. It could be something like MAIGO.BIN, SG_DPLDR.BIN, or 2DP.Bin.
If you have a hex editor, open up one of those bin files and look for the text string CD001. Any bin file that has that also needs to be binhacked.

Are you sure you used the correct LBA values? Some games need a specific LBA value for it to boot.

I dunno what else. Maybe you missed a step somewhere.

Thanks for replying, its ok, ive have sorted it out now, i read a post that Megalexxx posted, and i edited the cd images with hex editor to get them to load
Only trouble is ive noticed Gauntlet has boarders, and not sure it it should do!?, as i have an NTSC DC so i would of thought it should be full screen!!

Hey man. I had the same trouble with ferarri F355. Just use bin2boot that will make a selfbooting disc for you :-)

Megalexxx is on a distinguished road
There's another post about F355 : there's an other LBA reference that needs to be changed.

For Virtua Cop 2, you'll have to edit the ip.bin to set "S**A OS used" and "VGA Box".
