VCR Tape to DVD - Need HELP !!!!

Recently bought a DVD recorder for the express purpose of converting my wife's VCR tape library to a DVD library.

I connected my Panasonic VCR audio/video output to the appropriate inputs on the DVD recorder and attempted to record "The Man From Snowy River." The DVD recorder quit and posted an on-screen message, "Protected." I then tried a second movie, "Black Beauty," and it recorded properly.

This is very disappointing. I was not attempting to pirate anyone's intellectual property; I just wanted to convert my wife's VCR library to DVD. I believe that VCRs will disappear in a few years, and we will not be able even to find a VCR recorder or player.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
LGS

Some Video Cassettes are protected by Macrovision. The main reason those standalone dvd burners are made are for home movie conversions. You may just have to look for and buy the dvd version of the movie your trying to back up.

I have found a computer input product called
"AVerMedia DVD EZMaker USB2.0" which might do the job.

The manufacturer states that this external device and its associated software allows the user to "Capture," "Create," and "Record" from camcorders or Videotapes.

Anyone have any experience with this product?

Thanks for any help you can provide.
