CvS2 - Lost in Translation
Here's something I think it's strange:
Looking into the files in Capcom vs. SNK 2, I've seen a couple of files that contained the demo text and the winning frases (MESJ_DM.BIN and MESJ_WIN.BIN). The thing is that there are also 2 files called MESE_DM.BIN and MESE_WIN.BIN; so I check them out and they contained some of the dialogs translated. Anyway, I replaced the Japanese files for this English "translations" and I got the game to work with english text, but sometimes when playing in non single modes the text got screwed up and even frozen the game. So, if you want to see the messages in English or if you want to translate the game this files are useful I think. I guess if you just replace the MESJ_DM.BIN the game won't hang, because playing in single mode I could see the endings translated without problems. I wonder: Why are the english files there? Are they used in the game? This happens in more Capcom's Japanese games, but I only care for CvS2 since there's no US/Euro version. |

the reason the game hangs . is while they were programming it . it was decided that the game would not be released on the american market . so some of the calls for the english quotes hang resulting in the strange or japanese characters being displayed along with part of a quote . this is because strings for the quotes were never completed . like they decided to just close shop comment out what was meant for the english release and started shipping out copies .. your right about the dm.bin tho . works great and you can edit it and everything . bout time someone else found these files . if your bored . try and figure out what font and font_e are for . i never noticed any difference .
also when you play in single . the english quotes . besides being very lame . are wrong . for instance . benimaru says yamazakis quotes . and so on . only the endings work correctly |

Well I been pretty bored lately and had a few questions, How would I go about editing the files for Capcom VS SNK 2 or Marvel Vs Capcom 2 to change the ingame mechanics such as projectiles, characters super and things of that nature? I know a long time ago when street fighter 2 was the newest the had machines with hackked games that let you do so much crazy things with characters moves like to throw projectile in the air, switch ur character by pressing start and a lot of other things. I would love to do something like this to one of those two games. Btw the most I have dont is change the music for MvC2 I have like 10 mixes right now. Thanx for whatever help I can receive.
