having a little trouble
ok guys i dont know what i am doing wrong but heres the delema. i connected the swtich to my router using rj45 cable and i connected my computer and xbox to the switch using a rj45 cable each. when i go to the settings on the xbox it says static=yes and ip address is 192.168.0.157. so i fire up flashxp and put in the address and xbox for the username and password as well and i cant seem to connect. i dont know why i cant connect to the xbox and i know its connected with a rj45 cable cause thats what it said when i bought the cables. its something really minor but i cant seem to figure it out.

i think i know why my xbox was not connecting using the hub(switch) it was because my xbox has a static ip address 192.168.0.157 which is not the same type of addresses that my new router gives out. i have the VisionNet model # 708EUR which assigns ip addresses like 10.0.0.20 and so forth. so that means i have to download evolution x from somewhere so that i can configure the evox ini file to something along the lines of 10.0.0.7.

What I'd do is disconnect your router so just your PC and XBox are hooked up thru the hub. Than manually enter the IP address into the computer, I'd give it 192.168.0.160 than you should be able to connect to your XBox. From there you can download the INI file and change your XBox's IP to coincide with your network.

thanx for ur advice rms 2001, but heres what i did right now to fix my problem. sense my router gives ip adresses like 10.0.0.20 etc. i went to xbox's settings and changed the static ip address to 10.0.0.9 and i went to the bottom and i went to where it says save and exit. once i did that i shut down the xbox and turned it back on. and i went to my xbox's settings to see if it worked and it did
. so i fired up flashxp and i put in that address and sure enough i can see all the drives in the xbox. with a little trial and error and with a few gears in my brain in turning i made this work.

its funny how after a person doesnt try as hard or sits back and rethinks the situation, a little light bulb turns on and u start to put two and two together. as for me i didnt realize until i typed cmd.exe in the run program and saw that my address was 10.0.0.etc and xbox was 192.168.0.157 and thats when the hammer hit me on the head...haha. i realized that the xbox's address was the address that a d link router gives and not a visionnet router and i took from there
