Problems with M2v1.33b an ps2 v9

Installed a Messiah2Pro v1.33b into version 9 console about a week ago. It works fine for about ten minutes then if I reset an try an boot a backup it acts like a non chipped ps2 i.e originals only.

I assume that the M2 is overheating and shutting down. Turn off for a while then back on again an its fine. Has anyone come across this and what was the solution.

Regards

Yep. Base of m2 is on sticky pad floating off the motherboard. Will check for close to bridging connects.....Actually will try a reinstall this afternoon an see what happens. Will also try an lift m2 board a bit further off motherboard to increase airflow.

Thanx for advice dust. will post lata with update

Okay, so did a reinstallation to no avail. Didn't work at all in any way when reinstalled so after a bit of a think I decided that it must be a power problem as the chip wouldn't even boot ps1 backups ( acts like it ain't there) so opened up again and changed the 3.4V wire for a different thinner single core wire.

The ps2 booted up a ps2 dvd backup perfectly the first time but on a reset it ignored the chip again. Switchin off ( completely) an then powering up again did no good either. Ignores the chip.

I'm wondering if I damaged the supply to the m2 area on the motherboard an if so is it possible to use an alternative point on the motherboard to get a supply from e.g from the 3.5V ntsc fix point?

Other than that am gonna try fitting the m2 chip into a m8's version 7 just to ensure that the chip ain't a duff one.

Any ideas anyone?

I thought at first it was an overheat problem but its hit an miss whether it works or not to start with so have dismissed that.

Have seen on operation instructions that it mentions about having problems with ps2 dvd-r's an it was a dvd-r I was testing with so maybe need a bit more lookin into this. Might be that my duff 1kB 6502 brain is just gone wrong.

WOT CAN BE??????????????????

I did sum more testing yesterday. Tried loading up ps2 cdr's (about 10 different ones) with 100% sucess rate whether i used reset or standby/eject to boot.

PS1 cdr now also seems to be okay. Tried 7 different ps1 cdr and got no problems.

Also tried about 7 different dvd-r an they were no problem too except for the one I was using as a test disc first off.......solution, a bad backup of MOHRising Sun. Doh!!!! Chip appears to be workin fine. Just needed sum education on how to use it an not test it wiv a coaster.

Thanx for all advice

Regards
