making a nocd EXE?

Hey y'all,

I'm interested in learning the process of modding an exe to disable the cd check. I've googled for this but can't come up with any useful information, other than how to do it for a specific exe. I'm interested in the whole process, like how do you tell where in the file to change, and then what to change.

btw, I've checked the FAQ's on cracking cd checks and all the links are dead Anyone have a cached version of the pages linked in the FAQ?
