PS2 CD game to DVD-R

I would like to ask are there any method to burn a CD format PS2 game to a DVD? As I have seen a DVD version of WE7 in China. Is that have to make a 'dummy.bin' file first?

I think there is at least one good reason, DVD’s are much quieter than CD’s in a PS2.

Some games might work, just copy all the files and folders and hope there’s no media detection or LBA sector loading of game files. Do any PS2’s read DVD-RW’s ? If so try that first.

No games will work. First of all because you will need to insert the correct dvd checks in the correct places. For that you would need to know how to use IDA and how to use the correct ps2 flirts to find these locations.

If your smart enough to figure out all that then youll probably be able to get the game to work.

Without the dvd checks the ps2 uses the wrong frequency for the laser to read the disc.

I don’t believe DVD checks are intended to tell the laser hardware what media type it’s using. It already knows the media type or the code with the DVD check would not have loaded to begin with. It’s just software protection. The question is do CD games have CD media detection. Unlicensed free software such as PGEN and PS2Reality can be burned on either CD-R or DVD-R without modifying any code because there is no protection of any kind in this software. There is a BUG currently with PGEN for DVD file system that should be fixed in the next version. To quote the programmer “There are no media checks in PGEN10B.ELF. Why would homebrew software have media checks?”.

Interesting. Well I havent done any ripping in a long time either. But if other homebrew programs work without checks then maybe there is a way. I just know that if you put a cd onto dvdr it wont boot. So there has to be something else.
