it wont even open on DVD shrink!
about halfway through opening it it sais
''error: clinik reducency check''

any ideas?

Try playing a minute or two on your dvd-rom then try dvd shrink.

CRC error may be due to scratched/dirty disk. Try cleaning and/or using a different reader.

I got AnyDVD and used CloneDVD an got this error:
read error TCSectorReader TCE

ill tryed cleaning it an it worked fine!!!!!
last time i lend any one my DVDs....

To rip a dvd to your hard drive you will usually use a program like Smartripper or DVD Decryptor. The reason these need to be used are due to the CSS protection on commercial dvds meaning you can't normally copy the files to your hard drive. So these programs use DeCSS to decode the dvd.

Now with AnyDVD, it uses the same concept of DeCSS but it does it 'on the fly' so there is no ripping process. You can just have AnyDVD running in the background and compress a dvd with DVD2One or suchlike straight off the dvd without a ripping processs needed. You can also copy/paste the files from the dvd to your hard drive with this,
