Anyone else notice that none of the Yager no-dvd cracks work correctly...

I installed the full contents of the Yager dvd onto my hard drive (including movies).

Then I tried both the Deviance and Battery no-dvd cracks. Well, you can play without the dvd, but there are no movies (which kinda defeats the purpose of the crack since I need to use the dvd to see any of the movies)

Anyone figure out how to get these to work right?

Thanks...

Bruce

Unfortunately, that's how some cracks work. You see, if the original executable expects the movie files to be on dvd, it makes it difficult to make a nocd crack. One simple way is to disable the code looking for those files, but it means you won't seen any movies. It is possible to rewrite the code to use the files from the hard disk, but this is far more difficult because you're writing NEW code, not disabling old, and therefore most crackers won't do it. Normally I'd suggest making a hard disk image with Alcohol120% in a situation like this, but that would take up an ungodly amount of extra space. Still, if you got a huge hard disk it might be worth a try.

Mmmmh... sure... but you can install the full game from dvd to harddisk including the movies.
At least at the german-retail which i bought yesterday.
Therefore a nodvd should be possible i think...

Not a bad game - but controls suck on pc i think...

Hey Rince, a properly written game grabs the location of the movies (i.e. the drive letter and path of some directory on the original CD/DVD) from a configuration file or the registry.

After having changed that entry, you still might have to remove the code that checks whether that drive is a CD/DVD or something else.

_If_ the game is properly written! If it just stupidly tries to access the first CD/DVD-drive then things are a bit more difficult. You have to find the code that searches for the CD/DVD-drive and the string into which it inserts the drive letter. Now change the string to start with "./" (instead of "%c:/"), pointing into the directory of the installed game.

Now you can copy the movie files onto the hard disk _or_ create small fake movies if you wanna get rid of them. Of course, it depends on the actual game but, in general, it's not _that_ hard to do...

Joe

jojo... to look movies make this:

go in your install dir... there are a file: "config.ysc" ... open it with a editor (windows editor) ...
in the line: "set CFG_GAM_PATHFMV "programm files/thq/yager/movies"" you must write:

" set CFG_GAM_PATHFMV "e:\yager\movies" " (e:\ for your dir)
or
" set CFG_GAM_PATHFMV "movies\" "
