Question Playstation 2

Hello all. I recently bought a modded playstation 2 with a no swap magic version 3 and everything on it works except the dvd-movie part. It doesn't play any dvd movies (backup or original). Can this be fixed? If so, will it be inexpensive?

I also wanted to know if it is possible to back up Playstaion 2 games on a cd-r? If so where do I find this software? Thankyou.

Is this the boot procedure you are looking for?

Magic 3, 3.1

NOTE: This is with the disk assumed in the tray and the tray closed:

Playstation 2 Games

• Power up normally from STANDBY with RESET button. A single tap is required.

Playstation 1 games & DVD Movies

• Power up from STANDBY with RESET button held until the blue EJECT light comes on; then release RESET and the disk will boot.

NOTE: Turn off the PS2 (to standby) before changing Mode (PS1/PS2/DVD)

NOTE: To turn off the modchip....... Hold reset for 3-5 seconds.

Some PS2 games are on dvd and some on cd. It will say on the back of the box which are which. Use RecordNowMax to back up your PS2 games

Hope that helps

Question Ps2 Questions... Thankyou FIT

Thankyou FIT for your quick response to my questions. My ps2 plays Backed up ps2 games and Orginal Ps2 games, plus Original DVD-Movies.

Question #1: My question is how do i get my PS2 system to read my backed-up DVD-movies? For some reason my ps2 is reading a bootleg dvd movie that I bought from NYC when i visited, but is not reading Backed-up DVD movies which I created.

Question #2: Why does my ps2 keep asking about "changing parental code" from 6 to 8? what is that about?

Question #3: Does ps2 come with an equilizer like ps1 when playing cd's? If so, how do I activate it on my Ps2.

Thankyou.

For Question 2 you can either call SONY or search online (im sure the process is on here somewhere), about how to reset the password for the Parental Control. For some reason EVERY damn pS2 ive played has that annoying crap on it. All the more reason to get a DVD PLAYER.

#1 - dvd movie backups should play just like originals, with or without chip, maybe you're burning them wrong, remember to specify to what ever software you are using that you want to create a dvd movie (except for recordnow, which does it by default under default settings), not a regular data disc.

# 2 - read the ps2 manual page 19......i posted this before, but to lazy to do it now

# 3 - guess not......if it did it would probably be mentioned on the manual

Yeah, U don't need a chip to play dvd movie back-ups, however u can't just drop a dvd video into ur dvd drive an do a straight 1:1 back-up.

DVD Movies are encrypted an the key to decrypt them is in the part of the dvd that dvd burners don't copy so if u do a backup you'll get an encrypted backup with no key for the ps2 to read and decrypt.

U have to use special software to backup dvd movies. I recomend DVDXcopy. This will decrypyt yr movie and rewrite it without the encryption so it'll play without the code. It will also offer u the option to copy just the movie as most dvd videos are dual layer and won't fit onto a dvd-r however the movie on its own will.

DVDXcopy express is also a good program which will slightly downgrade a dvd's quality in order to fit it onto one dvd-r.

For more info on backing up dvd movies check out here.

Regards
