Have you tried scanning the cd/exe with a scan tool like clonyxxl or Protection_ID (by cdkiller) ?

Have a search for them and give it a try!

You should then be able to use Alcohol 120% (with the appropriate settings) to make a working backup.

Take into consideration that you should only make a backup for security reasons. If you only have a single license, you should not install the software on more than one pc.

Tried.
Didn't work. It tells me that the cd it's not protected.
However I didn't get Protection_ID. The download from cd-media world it's a busted archive. The same with any other dl sources i was able to find.

It's a wierd protection. Aftee the instalation if u start your computer once with the original cd in the drive u can use the aplication without the cd.
If u start the sistem with the back-up first the aplication stops fuctioning and requiers the original cd, and the second time removes the optical disk drives from your OS( :-((( ).

I also tried demon tools an alcohol 120%

And themis_t : I work for a publicity company as an IT manager; my job its to buy new hardware and software for the company and take care of the stuff we already have; If this program gets busted I'll pay the new one because I " did't made a backup" . The so called "artists" that work for the company are completly careless about the equipment ( only an complete idiot will put a tea cup on a monitor placed on a unstable surface ).Unfortunatly this aplication costs my salary for more thren four months so I really have to make a copy that works.

Hi Plasma

Some good news and bad news. I too have been trying to make a working backup of PE5, with similar success (failure!)

However, if you uninstall PE5 you can then reinstall with a backup on the same machine/setup (This on XP). Seems that PE5 puts the CD fix in the registry or something after first run.

So as long as you don't trash the machine you have PE5 installed on (i.e. make a backup of the registry/current system too! - sure you do!)

This is worth a try for now. Alternately try Pinnacle, although I can't see them helping, they wouldn't help me lol.
