I need help backing up jackAss PAL

i just bought jackass (great dvd) and wish to back it up in case something goes wrong (and it has done in the past) but every software i try to use to back it up fails! i've tried alcohol, dvd x copy express, dvd x copy nothing works!! help

Well Alcohol won't back it up cos it's can't decrypt CSS.
What problems do you encounter with the other two programs?

Try using other programs (read the sticky topic for a quick list). Try using DVD Decrypter or Smartripper to rip it to your hard drive.

well i tried using smart ripper it seemed to work but when i tried to burn the VOB files to dvd using nero 5 is said compilation error?!

I backed up Jackass(NTSC) with dvdxcopy no problem. What error did you get? You say you used Nero 5 as well. There are tons of versions of Nero 5. What is the exact version?

5.5 of nero
when i tried to use dvdx copy express and x copy it froze my cd reader! tried to use the dvd drive to read but kept getting read errors.

When you rip it with smartripper is the total filesize below 4.38GB?

If not then you have to compress it to fit.

LOL. There are lots of 5.5 versions. 5.5.10.42? 5.5.10.20? Is your original scratched? And you mean dvd-rom not cd reader right?

yeh it's a cd, cdr, dvd drive that i use to read it
samsung cdrw/dvd SM-316b

when i have ripped the dvd it is 4gb exactly.

i think there is some sort of special protection on the PAL region 4 dvd or jackass. no matter what i do it won't backup. when i try to backup using dvd x copy express or x copy the program freezes it only freezes it with this dvd!

2.0.0.5 of x copy express
1.4.1.0 of x copy

not sure about the drives but i've backup up plenty of region 4 dvds
