try this:
put in a real game (any game) it will start to spin slowly at first then faster when it gos faster take out the real game and put in the back up game this is how i play my 2 disc backup because i dont have a chip you will need to find something to hold down the lid senser, for the small psone use a twist tie the switch is next to the open button for the big psx use tape the switch is in the back hope this helps

A Mod chip shouldn't have a problem. Are you also using a game enhancer our some device that requires the lid sensor to be pressed down at all times? Most games just need and indication that the lid has been opened so if your using a spring, simply lift up the end that is holding the sensor down and then put it back, once the game thinks the lid has been open it will move on.
Also check and see if there is a chance to save before going on to the next disk, a game save at the end of a disk can usually be read by the next disk, simply power off the machine and start the next disk and load the save file. |

I don't know. A friend fixed my ps for me.
I'll try that. Well, you save at at place, but then later when you move on you face a boss and then it's time to save. but I'll try.
