I looked the website of elby and clonedvd will be released very soon...
I would like to know your opinions about maybe this new hope for backup our gamecube game? Clonecd don't care about the toc...maybe clonedvd will do same...maybe the gamecube don't detect if a mini-dvd is a mini-dvd-R or rw... I expect a lot of this program...and you? www.elby.de |

GC backup
I read on the internet that these GC discs can't be read by a normal dvd-rom drive. it has to do with the inner data band that is located near the middle of this disc. this data band has "alien code" that a normal dvd-rom drive can't read. so when you put the disc in a dvd-rom drive most drives won't even try to spin up the disc. this is more protection from ninitendo.

maybe we can make it work like the sony audio cd.
Maybe by putting marker on this alien code we will be able to read the game cube disk. But I've still a question on the sony's cd we can see the alien code on the disk but i i'm not able to see it on the cube disk if somebody know where this code is maybe he could try.

does anyone know how to take the dvd drive out of the gc? if you can take the dvd drive out of the gc and hook it up to the computer, then use clone dvd... then that would be the only software based soloution other wise i think you hackers should try a buffer overflow atack. I think what would work to modify the gc is by inventing something that will hook a gc memory card to the computer so you can make a boot loaderthat wil boot a custom made dashbord... can anyone program for gc anyways?
I am just a newbie, I only know what I read so this may sound real stupid to you hackers
