Question about some boot disk prog's

Sorry if this question has been answered before, but I was wondering if the psx boot disk programs on the main site work or not. I've looked around and on other sites they say that only a pressed disk, not a burned disk will work. If this is true, then why have the prog's available for download?

The reason why I'm asking is that my PSX is getting old and the mod chip inside doesn't seem to want to work all that well. I bought the system new in 1996. I think it's the last one that has actual RCA jacks on the back of the system.

Any help would be... well helpful and appreciated,

Tim

Having a mod chip one would hope that you know why you have it.
If you do why ask a dumb question about a downloaded boot disc?
More than likely your laser assy is simply worn out because the modchip doesn't .

That's the thing, the PSX will boot to a normal, non-burned game just fine. But everytime I put in a known good burn, all I get is the memory card/audio cd screen.

I thought that maybe having the boot disk in combination with the chip would stop that.

But tonight when I get home from work, I'm going to take it apart and see if the chip is still connected well. If not, that's the problem.

Thanks for the info,

Tim

Also the system in question is a SCPH-1001, if that makes any difference.
