Can't Establish FTP

I got my Matrix chip with X2 4976.02 Bios installed. I have a crossover cable and a NIC. I boot up the evox CD and try to FTP to the IP address assigned by evox, 192.168.0.2, and get nothing. I have my NIC IP set at 192.168.0.111. I have tried changing some of the setting on EVOX but nothing has helped. The setiings when I look at them are as follows.

Type
IP 0.0.0.0
Line Status 100\Full Duplex
Ethernet MAC address 00:50:F2:AF:C2:3F
Setup Network Yes
Use Static IP No
IP 192.168.0.2
Subnetmask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.0.1
DNS 0.0.0.0
DNS 0.0.0.0
Setup Dealy 10
Skip Setup if no Link NO

I open FlashFXP enter 192.168.0.2 for the Server\URL and xbox for login and password. It then says connecting then fails after a few seconds. I have given you any useful information that I could think of. I hope that it is just something easy that I am looking over. Thanks for any help you can give.

And by the way EVOX version is 1.8.3752, and FTP is enabled.

I think I see your problem!!

Both IP's are same the XBox and the PC this will not work, they need to be different. Try setting the IP to your PC to 192.168.0.9 and leave your XBox at 192.168.0.2

Let me know if that helps....

Never mind read it a bit closer, do you have green lights on you ethernet connections??

you said you boot to evox via cd.. you need to boot to evox directley fron your xbox hard drive.
like devilsminion said you should also need to set the ip differentley. these are my settings.

pc ip 192.168.0.4

subnet mask 255.255.255.0

default gateway 192.168.0.1

my xbox ip is 192.168.0.3

these settings work fine for me.

i had to manually setup my nic card to the above settings in order to get a connection. im using windows xp pro sp1.

The only difference that I had was that I set my PC IP to 192.168.0.111 I changed it to your settings and still no luck. I know the cable is good and I have a green light on both ends. I have to boot evox from a CD I am trying to transfer it from my xbox D drive to the PC so I can then go from the PC to the xbox harddrive. This is how it was said to be done in evox for dummies. Under settings in system utils on the xbox the second line down is as follows "IP 0.0.0.0" is this the way it should be? I am unable to change this or any of the blue highlighted settings.

Thumbs up I got it!!!!

You have your use static IP set to NO. You have to burn another copy of the boot disk and change the ini file to use static IP to yes. I had the same problem and if you go down a few pages you will see how much trouble I had.

I bet dollars to donuts thats what it it, you can't change this setting once it's burned you have to edit it in the ini first

Thats it I just checked it with my old boot disk and IP was 00000 so change that re burn and your set my friend!!

Well I am glad I could help!!!

I was stumped real good on that one, I couldn't just re burn a new boot disc as my com crashed the next day so I had no way of doing it. And I wasn't thinking about how you wouldn't be able to change it to yes being it burned on the cdrw anyways glad it helped and enjoy!
